Cursor and camera

Camera

Show your camera as a bubble over the recording or side by side with it, and let it step aside while you're not talking.

If you recorded with a camera (see Camera and microphone), the Camera panel sets how it appears in the video. Turn Show camera off to leave it out of the clip.

Layout

Under Layout, choose where the camera goes:

  • Bubble floats over the recording.
  • Top, Bottom, Left and Right split the frame: the camera takes that side and the recording takes the rest. The Camera / screen slider sets how the frame is shared, from 15% to 85% for the camera. It starts at 40% / 60%.

Bubble

With the Bubble layout you can also set:

  • Position: click one of the four corners.
  • Size: from 8% to 50%.
  • Border radius: from square corners all the way to Circle, the starting shape.

Effects

  • Shrink during zoom makes the bubble smaller while a zoom is on, so it covers less of what you’re showing.
  • Shadow adds a shadow under the bubble.
  • Mirror flips the camera image, like looking in a mirror. It’s on to start with.

Hide while silent

Turn on Hide while silent and the camera steps aside when you stop talking and comes back when you speak again. It shows up a moment before you start and stays a moment after you finish, and short pauses don’t hide it. The bubble fades out and shrinks a little into its corner; in a split layout, the recording grows to fill the whole frame.

OnScreen listens to your microphone to know when you’re talking, so this option only appears when the clip has microphone audio.

Settings for each clip

Like the cursor, camera settings belong to each clip. Reuse these settings copies them to every clip after this one, and Set as default makes new projects start with them.

Tip: To show the camera only in some parts of the video, split the clip and turn off Show camera in the parts where you don’t want it.
