Activate your license

Your license key comes in the email you get when you buy OnScreen. It looks like XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.

Try it free first

On the Activate OnScreen screen you can also click Start the free trial. For 7 days you get every feature without a key. During the trial, videos export at 720p with a small watermark in the bottom-right corner, and the top bar shows how many days are left. When the trial ends, OnScreen asks for a license again, and your projects are kept just as you left them. The trial can be started once per computer.

To keep the full version, buy a license and enter its key in Settings ▸ License, or on the activation screen when the trial ends.

Activate OnScreen

The first time you open OnScreen, you see the Activate OnScreen screen.

1. Copy the key from your email and paste it in the License key field.
2. Click Activate.
3. OnScreen opens and you’re ready to record.

Activating needs an internet connection. If OnScreen says the key isn’t complete or can’t be found, copy it again exactly as it appears in the email.

Up to 3 computers

Each license works on up to 3 computers. If your key is already on 3, OnScreen tells you and asks for your purchase email:

1. Type the email you bought with in Purchase email and click Show computers.
2. Click Free next to a computer you no longer use.
3. OnScreen frees that place and activates this computer on its own.

See your computers

Open Settings with the gear button and go to the License tab. It shows whether OnScreen is activated, the last characters of your key and the list of computers that use it, with This computer marked. Click Free next to any other computer to release its place.

Move to another computer

On the computer you’re leaving, go to Settings ▸ License and click Deactivate this computer. Its place is freed, so you can activate the key on the new one. This also needs a connection.

Working offline

OnScreen checks the license online about once a day. Without a connection it keeps working, and the License tab shows Activated, working offline with the days you have left. You get 14 days from the last successful check. After that, the activation screen says Connect to the internet to keep using OnScreen. Connect and click Try again.

If you freed a computer from another one, it shows the activation screen the next time it checks. Enter your key there to activate it again.
