What's new
What's new in OnScreen
What each version brings. OnScreen updates itself, and every version is included in your license.
OnScreen 1.1.0
Notes panel to read from or follow an image while you record, never in the video. Hide silences in one click. Folders and multi-select on the projects page. Camera preview at the top center, next to the webcam. Style changes apply to every clip (or just one, if you choose). Masks and spotlights across several clips. New gradients and your Mac wallpaper as a background. Liquid Glass icon on macOS. Fixes: OnScreen no longer stays open without a Dock icon, and Record tells you when screen permission is missing.
OnScreen 1.0.9
Inset, a new Spotlight style: shows part of the screen, like a settings panel, somewhere else in the video. Ideal for 9:16, where a wide interface doesn't fit; the camera doesn't go after what the inset already shows. Hide layers: right-click or press H on a zoom, mask, spotlight, keystroke or caption to leave it out of the video without deleting it. In vertical formats you can turn off Follow your activity so the camera holds still where there are no zooms. The automatic camera no longer gets pulled by what you cut from the clip, spotlights that end with the clip stay on screen through the last frame, and recording again right after a take no longer fails with "Recorder exited (1)".
OnScreen 1.0.8
Captions: fixed the out-of-memory error (std::bad_alloc) with Whisper Large v3, transcription is about 5× faster, and Automatic now really detects the language. Recording starts right as the countdown ends, and the Dock icon shows a red dot while you record. The recording bar and the control bar can be moved anywhere. When you record an area, it stays marked on screen and its buttons sit in the middle. New installers, sharp on Retina screens and on scaled Windows displays.
OnScreen 1.0.7
Simpler, automatic zoom: Auto, Follow, Focus and Manual modes, with one level that never changes by itself and quick All, Wide, Normal and Close framings. In 9:16 the recording always fills the frame, and zooms can go below 1× to show more of the screen. Splitting with S no longer fades to black or moves the camera or cursor. Z inside a zoom adds a new one, and the timeline has a magnet. A zoom at the start of the video no longer jumps on the first frame.
OnScreen 1.0.6
7-day free trial. Auto zoom: one zoom per spot you click, back to back. A loupe in Spotlight, hide the camera while you're silent, Reduce noise for the microphone, Remove filler words, and 4:5 and 5:4 formats. Masks cover from their first frame.
OnScreen 1.0.5
New edge margin for zooms: what sits near the edge of the recording can end up in the center. New cut transition between clips, with no fade. The panel bar scrolls in short windows instead of squashing.
OnScreen 1.0.4
Zooms a few seconds apart are joined: the camera no longer zooms out and back in, it follows what you do. In older projects, click Auto in the Zoom panel to apply it.
OnScreen 1.0.3
The home screen now uses the full width, with settings behind the gear. Select several projects and delete them together, and right-click a project for its menu. The welcome screen shows the real app.
OnScreen 1.0.2
A welcome screen with the first steps, a new license screen, and the keys row only shows when keystrokes are on.
OnScreen 1.0.1
Smoother zooms near the edges. Keystrokes are recorded by default, and every recording comes with its keystroke layer ready, hidden until you turn it on.
OnScreen 1.0.0
The first version of OnScreen, for Windows and Mac.
